John Lee Bird + Fabrizio Modonese Palumbo
Think Pink is the first full length album by the queer duo formed by visual artist, performer, doll maker
John Lee Bird (also member of the punk cabaret combo slapper and situationist rave act Blank Milk) and experimental musician Fabrizio Modonese Palumbo (founding member of internationally renowned cult bands such as Larsen and Blind Cave Salamander among many projects and collaborations) following their 2024 EP of Some Time Spent There and featuring contributions by Paul Beauchamp (who also recorded and mixed the album), Xiu Xiu, Simon Fisher Turner and Julia Kent.
So far the duo has performed live in the UK and Italy including art and fashion events and London shows at the monthly queer party Knickers and at a sold out Pit and Perverts 40th Anniversary concert at the Electric Ball Room and is currently working on new material.
Think Pink was originally devised as a written manifesto in 2020 to accompany a series of pink paintings made by JLB.
Reworked and reformed in collaboration due to pink facts requiring revisiting after personal, public and political changes that have occurred since its inception. It is not just music. It is an experience. Words and sound meld into a collective stream of otherness, a togetherness intended. An intuitive understanding, a sharing of pink history and pink truth.
Think Pink is a piece that transforms each time it is performed and each time it is listened to/experienced. A shiver of triggers.
It’s a tribute to Saint Derek Jarman, Ludwig Wittgenstein and all the queers who shaped and formed our being.
A pink tribute.
Reclaiming the blues of the past and showering them in pink celebration.
It’s unity. It’s faith. It’s a call to arms.
A rally, a riot.
It’s dissection, reconstitution, reconciliation.
It is all of us. It’s all of you. It’s what we must be.
...and do.
Think Pink.
